Matthew 28:19-20

19(A) Go therefore and(B) make disciples of(C) all nations,(D) baptizing them(E) in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them(F) to observe all that(G) I have commanded you. And behold,(H) I am with you always, to(I) the end of the age.”

“We believe that discipleship is not just a purpose of the Church, but it is the purpose of the church.”


I. What is a Disciple?

a. Enters into a relation with the Father through Jesus  (Yeshua) the Messiah.

b. Is rooted on the foundation of the Word of God.

c. Matures due to spiritual discipline.

d. Develops a Christ-like character, making disciples of others.

 

II.  How does the discipleship process work?

a. It is an intentional process.

- Providing a clear path of spiritual development

- Community support

- Mentoring relationships

b. It consists of three components.

-  Celebration service

-  Adult or youth Bible fellowship

- Small groups

c. It provides simple, consistent opportunity to learn the heart of God.

- Celebration services, Adult Bible Fellowships and Basic Accountability Groups formed around the study and  application of the Word of God

- Weekly Readings

-Consistent teaching from the readings

 

III. Where do I begin?

a. Seeker Group

-  not a believer but want to know more

-  meet in a small group with others in the same place

- uses a DVD-based discussion format designed to explore the big questions

b. Covenant Group

- small group designed for those who know the Lord and want to learn the basic concepts of the faith

-  uses an inductive study guide in a small group discussion to look through the Scriptures to discover the basic concepts of the faith

c. HaYesod / The Foundation

- “HaYesod” is the Hebrew word for “the foundation”

-  the foundational class at Calvary necessary for studying, understanding, and applying the Scriptures

-  uses a DVD-based discussion format designed to discover the ancient Hebraic understanding of the Scriptures

-  the pivotal class for a proper understanding of the faith

- required prerequisite for Basic Accountability Groups

d. Basic Accountability Groups

- small group designed to develop basic spiritual disciples in an accountable, loving relationship

- uses an interactive study book series supplemented with Calvary materials

- the pivotal class for a proper daily application of the faith

- required prerequisite for Ongoing Accountability Groups

e. Ongoing Accountability Groups

- small accountability group designed to purposefully bring about character transformation

-  uses an intensive Scripture study and application approach

f. Joshua’s Journey

- small group to explore strategies for overcoming anxiety, codependency, grief, anger, and habits you want to stop and more

- uses a purposeful and intentional discipleship path customized by Calvary staff

g. I Don’t Know Where I Fit

-Calvary staff are more than willing to meet to discuss, explore, and assist you to get on the right place for your disciple path.
