† Matthew 6 “10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” (NKJ Version)
Here at the start of the day comes yet another opportunity to celebrate the purposes and love that the Father has toward us. Lifting our praises to heaven and declaring with our lips…come kingdom of God, Your will be done on “earth” as it is in heaven. What is this place of earth? Strong’s Concordance gives the meaning; a region, ground or land. A region has definable characteristics. Perhaps this earth spoken of here in Matthew could also be considered like the place of our heart where we long to see, feel and know God? The heart is occupied as a spiritual ground either by self-nature or His “Christ-likeness”. Again God asks us to return, as in the beginning, to the place where we walk and talk in the garden in relationship with Him. Give us our daily bread we ask, but do we come ready and asking Him to cultivate this earthly garden of our hearts?
May this be our prayer: Lord, give us ears to hear, eyes to see and quiet our souls as an invitation to Your redeeming presence. Water the fallow ground of our hearts so that Your kingdom may come and Your purposes be done here on the earth.
